A Legacy of Craftsmanship, Innovation, and Adventure
Garn Christensen was born in 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest of four children. Life demanded resilience early—his father passed away when Garn was just eight years old, leaving his mother, Latuna, a dedicated LPN nurse, to raise the family through grit, discipline, and care.
Driven by determination and supported by the Army ROTC, Garn became the first in his family to earn a college degree. He went on to serve four years as an officer before entering the private sector, working with industry leaders including IBM and AT&T.
But innovation never stayed confined to a job title.
By age thirty, Garn had launched his own business. Over the next decade, he built and operated a successful land development and construction enterprise while continuously creating—developing computerized finance systems, air-quality testing tools, dynamic display walls, and product designs that blended practicality with creativity.
In his forties, Garn took a different path. He scaled back financially to pursue a bold vision: building a new-age mountain community rooted in self-reliance and connection to the land. While the full vision never materialized, its impact did. The cabins, sites, and structures he built over more than fifty years remain gathering places for family, builders, engineers, public servants, and creators inspired by his approach.
GarnBuilt carries that legacy forward.
Working alongside regional custom build and designers, GarnBuilt creates durable, adaptable products that are designed, tested, and used in real life. Every build reflects the same standard Garn lived by—if it doesn’t hold up in the real world, it doesn’t ship.
